STINTer Briefing 1

Thursday, August 18th, 2005

I’m here, made it to Keystone. Reflecting back to the night before I left, and even yesterday my first day here, there has been this dream like feel to it all. I believe I am still in that state of being, only starting to get used to it. This is all so surreal and incomprehensible to me. We’ve had a couple large group sessions so far, where there are 500 people in one room, who in a matter of months will be all over the world sharing the gospel and expanding the kingdom of God! We’re in something around 30 countries, and 67 cities (if my memory is correct). Thinking about it is amazing, I’m sitting in one room, with laborers of Christ who will be on every major continent (all but Antarctica) reaching out and ministering to and with college students. The future eternity of the world is in part resting on the shoulders of 500 twenty something year old brothers and sisters in Christ.

Off to Keystone, CO

Wednesday, August 17th, 2005

I’m continuing to work on my lack of blogging and just introspection in general this summer. It’s been a very fast week that is about to either; speed up, or slow down. Tomorrow morning I have an 11:19 flight out to Denver for the International STINT Campus Crusade briefing. None of us really know what we will be doing there for the week (I return on the evening of the 24th) but it is promising to be a lot of team building, and motivation with a mix of speakers, break out sessions, and general chill time. I’ll be taking a bunch of pictures and might be able to update once or twice while I’m out there.

Hard Words from a Skeptic

Tuesday, August 16th, 2005

I’ve been long since skeptical of the catholic church and their desire to see authentic, real, and genuine Christianity spurred across the world in light of the pending return of Christ. While I am still skeptical, I was very much excited by the recent words of Pope Benedict. My only fear is that the Christian bubble which the pope rests has blinded him from so much reality and heartbreak. Europe is lost from Christ. While he describes Europe moderately well in saying that “many Christian things occur, but there is also a great fatigue, and we are so concerned with structural questions that the zest and the joy of faith are missing.” (D’emillio, AP).

Tree Frog 2

For the past summer our house has been a place for these tree frogs to catch their nights delight. It’s suspicious because for the past 18-19 years we’ve lived here they haven’t shown themselves, and then all of a sudden this summer there are between five and seven of them. Most of the time on the screen leading to our deck, however this guy is behind one of the front lanterns on our house.

Carissa Kay’s Day!

Saturday, August 13th, 2005

Today at half past noon in St. Cloud, Minnesota my high school friend, Carissa Goertz became Carissa Kay Allen. It was so surreal and great at the same time. I had never met her husband, Jeff, until today and so was a bit concerned. After hearing his family and friends talk of him there is no doubt in my mind. He’s a solid man of God that Carissa deserves and needs in her life. It was as if she was in a dream and the reality that she would wake up next to Jeff hadn’t completely set in. SO exciting for her and him! May your love and zeal for Christ spill over unto one another until you are with Him.

River Flower

Took this a couple days ago at the Eau Claire Dells in Wisconsin, loved how it turned out with a slight level change and no-cropping. Out of all the shots I think this one captured the day the best.
